Tom Holland’s Uncharted is back in the news, climbing into the Top 10 Movies on Prime Video in the US as of July 16th 2025. Despite the mixed reviews it’s gotten, it’s still doing big at the box office.
Uncharted, the 2022 video game adaptation, is #6 on Prime Video in the US. Here’s the top 10 movies list. It’s beating out Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Fast Five, and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Tom Holland is Nathan Drake, the treasure hunter, and Mark Wahlberg is his mentor Sully. They go on a globe-trotting adventure to find a $5 billion Magellan treasure. Along the way they’re in a race against a ruthless billionaire played by Antonio Banderas.
Despite a 41% Rotten Tomatoes critics score, the audience gave it a 89% on the Popcornmeter and loved the action and the chemistry between Holland and Wahlberg. It’s made $407 million at the box office and is the 4th highest grossing video game movie of all time. And its success in the streaming world proves audiences can’t get enough of this movie.
So what’s the secret to the success of Uncharted on Prime Video?

Well, for starters it’s a cinematic spectacle packed with action sequences—think cargo plane chases and pirate ship battles—that are blockbuster movie magic while also adapted for the streaming experience. Holland is the young, feisty Nathan Drake and Wahlberg is the witty Sully and their banter is great for fans. But this casting has caused some controversy among the gaming purists who have strong opinions on the matter.
It’s a mix of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider that will appeal to gamers and newbies alike. It’s got humor and spectacle so you’re never bored. The long development hell with directors Shawn Levy and Dan Trachtenberg before Ruben Fleischer came on board makes it all the more sweet.
Fans are eagerly awaiting a sequel especially after the two post-credits scenes that set up Nathan’s brother Sam and the villain Gabriel Roman. In 2024 Sony greenlit Uncharted 2 and Mark Wahlberg said “A script is in the works. But with Tom Holland busy filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day he might not be available until 2026.”
Producer Charles Roven is optimistic though saying the fanbase and the $407 million box office means the movie can continue to do well. For now Prime Video is giving fans the chance to go back and rewatch the whole adventure.
