Stranger Things Season 5 is here and it’s awesome! Linda Hamilton is in the cast and Vecna is back for one last fight. This is the biggest season yet!
MovieWeb says this trailer is big and I can’t get enough of it! Stranger Things Season 5 is set in fall 1987 and picks up where Season 4 left off, with Vecna’s rifts destroying Hawkins and leaving the town in shambles. The trailer features our gang: Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Winona Ryder as Joyce, David Harbour as Hopper and others.
They’re gearing up to take down Vecna once and for all. We see Demogorgons coming out of the rifts, Hawkins is under military lockdown and it looks like something straight out of Stephen King’s scariest books. The stakes are high and MovieWeb says this could be Netflix’s biggest series finale yet, after Season 4 got 140.7 million views worldwide.
Biggest surprise in the trailer? Linda Hamilton from Terminator as Dr. Who?! MovieWeb points out she’s a tough military character with a gun. This is the show’s pattern of featuring 80s stars like Sean Astin and Robert Englund. We don’t know what her role is yet but the trailer shows her leading soldiers in a secure building so she must be connected to the government’s search for Eleven.
Hamilton told ComingSoon that filming took a whole year, longer than any Terminatormovie! She said “I’ve never worked on a project for a year” and called it a tough but fun experience. Is Kay a hero helping Hawkins or a villain making things harder for the gang? The trailer leaves us wondering but her attitude is clear.
The trailer shows a scary scene in Hawkins where Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower) disappears but is still manipulating things. MovieWeb says the group has come together to “find and kill Vecna” but the military’s efforts to capture Eleven make her go into hiding. We see Sadie Sink’s character Max who is still in a coma after Season 4. Lucas is trying to pull her to safety from the Demogorgons.
New cast members include Nell Fisher as Holly Wheeler, Jake Connelly as Derek Turnbow and Alex Breaux as Lt. Aker joins Hamilton, bringing new people into the mix. The Duffer Brothers say they will answer the story of the Upside Down using a 25 page document they created in Season 1. This season has 3 parts: 4 episodes on November 26, 3 episodes on Christmas and the last episode on New Year’s Eve. It’s a holiday event!
Why should you care? Stranger Things has been a part of Netflix since 2016 bringing back 80s vibes with Eggo waffles and Kate Bush’s song “Running Up That Hill.” MovieWeb thinks the final season will set streaming records and the trailer – with big hair and lots of action – supports that idea. With directors like Frank Darabont and Dan Trachtenberg involved and the Duffer Brothers’ ideas Season 5 feels like a special gift to the fans. Will everyone make it or will Vecna take over Hawkins? The trailer has me so excited for the answers.
