Kevin James Teases Grown Ups 3 Comeback

Kevin James hints at Grown Ups 3, sparking excitement for a new chapter of Sandler’s comedy crew. Expect more laughs and nostalgia as the gang might reunite for another wild adventure.

So we have some good news for Adam Sandler’s comedy crew, buckle up: Kevin James just dropped a big hint about Grown Ups 3! Yes, the beloved franchise could be back and I’m here to break it all down. From the nostalgia of the first two movies to what Kevin’s hint means.

In case you missed it Grown Ups (2010) and Grown Ups 2 (2013) star Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and others as lifelong friends getting into all sorts of silly, over the top shenanigans. Despite the mixed reviews the first movie made over $270 million and brought the gang back together at a lake house after their coach died.

With Lenny (Sandler) going back to his hometown the sequel introduced new characters, Taylor Lautner and made $247 million. Critics weren’t exactly kind – 8% and 10% on Rotten Tomatoes – but fans devoured the lighthearted comedy, real friendships and Sandler chaos. These movies are like comfort food, you know what you’re getting and it’s always a good time.

So what’s the word?

During the promotion for his new action comedy Kevin James dropped some info about Grown Ups 3. “Something’s happening” he said, referring to “talks” with the studio and telling fans to “keep hope alive”. That’s the most we’ve heard in years! This is big, over 10 years since Grown Ups 2. Kevin’s excitement has me thinking things are moving, maybe script talks or cast reunions. Is this a streaming exclusive because of Sandler’s deal with Netflix? The thought of the gang getting back together, older but not wiser is exciting for fans.

So what can we expect from Grown Ups 3?

The first was about reuniting after a loss, the second was about chaos in the community. A third could be about the group as empty nesters, treating their kids as adults or even grandchildren—think of the comedy! Lenny planning a crazy retirement party or battling new foes like tech bros or younger versions of himself.

With Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello joining the core cast of Sandler, James, Rock, Spade and hopefully Rob Schneider who skipped the sequel you have a comedy. Some may want a crazy turn like a meta slasher comedy but I think they’ll stick to the family friendly tone that worked for the first two.

What’s the point of this?

Grown Ups is about friendship, nostalgia and not taking yourself too seriously which are things we could all use. Sandler is working on Happy Gilmore 2 for Netflix which shows he’s willing to go back to his classics as Kevin proved. The franchise has made over $500 million so fans clearly love these reunions despite the mixed reviews. With new faces like Pete Davidson and Ryan Reynolds making cameos a third could be the chance to recapture the magic. Whether it’s on Netflix or in theaters the idea of more Grown Ups is an open invitation.
