As a big fan of Hailee’s skills and some professional athletes I couldn’t help but wonder: Is Josh Allen going to make a cameo in this movie?
Let’s get into the details. The movie is called Winter Games. It’s a romantic drama that takes place during the Winter Olympic Games. Hailee Steinfeld will play a “struggling skier” and Miles Teller will play a “self-sabotaging hockey star”. Their lives cross paths and they form an unexpected bond that challenges their Olympic dreams and personal recoveries as they navigate love and redemption in the Olympic Village.
This sounds amazing! Hailee Steinfeld can do many things. She’s been in serious movies that got her an Oscar nomination, she’s acted in action movies and she has an amazing singing voice. A romantic drama at the Olympics is just right for her. It lets her show off her emotions and maybe even some athletic skills. Miles Teller is known for bringing a tough but charming vibe to his characters so I’m really excited to see them together.
Now back to my important question about Josh Allen. If you don’t know Hailee Steinfeld married Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, in a beautiful ceremony earlier this year. They’ve been together for a while and they seem to support each other’s jobs.
Here’s my pitch to the filmmakers: A cameo by Josh Allen makes total sense! Just think about it:
- Authenticity: He’s a real athlete. Who better to add sports cred to the Olympics than a football player?
- Fan Service: The internet would lose it. Fans of him, fans of her, football fans and rom-com fans – it’s a crossover event!
- Natural Chemistry: He’s married to the lead! Their chemistry is strong even if they’re only on screen for a minute.
He could be a nice guy in the Olympic Village cafeteria or maybe he’s cheering someone on at a ski event. He could even be a funny rival hockey player from another team for a minute or two. The movie could make a funny comment about his wife being an athlete. Doesn’t need to be a big part just a fun, memorable moment that shows his real life connection to Hailee and sports.
No official word on Josh Allen but can we wish? With the setting and Hailee linked to a pro athlete it seems like a great opportunity for something fun. It would make the movie even more fun and interesting.
Winter Games has a great director Paul Downs Colaizzo who directed Brittany Runs a Marathon. That movie did funny and feels really well. With Hailee and Miles leading and some great sports drama this is going on my must see list. Now we just need to get that Josh Allen cameo confirmed!
