People are hyped for Noah Hawley’s new show “Alien: Earth. “ It’s more of the scary world Ridley Scott created. This is a prequel and spinoff and drops on streaming this August. Recent teases from Noah Hawley himself show it’s got a wild story that will change everything we thought we knew about the franchise.

Linking the Past: Weyland-Yutani’s Secrets and LV-426

One of the coolest things Hawley has said is that there’s a direct link to the main events of the first Alien movie on LV-426. For years fans have wondered how much Weyland-Yutani knew and was involved in the Nostromo’s detour to the planetoid. Hawley says Alien: Earth will explore what happened during the phone call when the company gave the orders that led to the discovery of the derelict ship and its contents. This story will make a clearer and stronger connection to the movies we know and reveal new secrets about the universe’s most powerful company.

The series will introduce new characters according to the images that have been released. This new team has a tough job: to find a crashed ship that’s hiding the Xenomorph and other alien creatures. One part of the story is that the ship was ordered by the grandmother of Sandra Yi Sencindiver’s character Yutani. Why is she motivated? She believes all the specimens on board are part of her heritage and she wants to control the biological resources.

Hawley’s plan for expanding the “Alien” mythology goes beyond prequels. There’s been talk of “Alien: Earth” possibly including elements of the never-made third prequel film, tentatively titled “Alien: Awakening”. If true, that would be huge and maybe explain why Ridley Scott has been saying he’s done with the series. Scott may feel his story has been told if Hawley’s vision incorporates and builds on his unrealized ideas. This would add an extra layer to the behind the scenes of the series and “Alien: Earth”.

The series is also part of a larger expansion of related film universes, in addition to the main “Alien” story. And note the Weyland-Yutani Corporation will be appearing for the first time in a standalone “Predator” film in “Predator: Badlands”. The possibility of a long sought after, real “Aliens vs. Predator” crossover finally happening organically within the shared universe rather than as a separate, less canonical entity is hinted at by this.

In the end “Alien: Earth” by Noah Hawley is more than just a horror show. The project is big and will bridge gaps in the story, add new terrors and expand the “Alien” mythology in ways we never thought possible. Not long to wait to find out more as the series premieres in August.
