Superman, James Gunn’s first film in the new DC Universe, is awesome and killing it at the box office! It’s already hit a big milestone in just one week!

It’s been confirmed that Superman has made more worldwide than The Flash (2023) in just 7 days!

Let’s simplify that. The Flash with its big budget and all the hype before it came out only made $271.3 million worldwide during its entire run. Superman with David Corenswet as the Man of Steel has already made over $272.7 million worldwide in one week! That’s good news for the new DC Universe and a big sigh of relief for Warner Bros.

It’s not just about beating one old movie; it’s a big message. The Flash didn’t do well at the box office and hurt the previous DC Extended Universe and made people question the brand’s future. Superman is back and doing better than the last movie and doing it fast. That means the Man of Steel is back and people are excited about James Gunn’s ideas.

The movie started strong with $125 million in the US and over $95 million in other countries. That’s over $220 million worldwide for the opening weekend. It had good numbers during the weekdays which is a good sign for how long the movie will do well. That’s how much people are talking positively about the movie and how critics are raving about David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Gunn’s hopeful and sincere approach to the character.

This is big for the DCU. James Gunn and Peter Safran are building a whole new universe from scratch with Superman as the starting point. A good opening weekend builds confidence not just for future DC movies but for investors and creatives. It shows people really want these characters when they’re treated well, have a plan and focus on quality.

The previous DCEU had some hits but struggled to be consistent and have a clear direction. It’s good to see Superman has bounced back from the recent DC movie money woes and is now a big success. It shows people are willing to give the new DCU a chance and are starting to trust it from the get go.

This is just the beginning for Superman. After a strong first week it’s going to keep going and hopefully move up the all-time DC box office charts. It’s a great start for a character that represents hope and it’s a fun time to be a DC fan.
