After the box office success of Gunn’The Gorge is a sci-fi thriller that’s been getting a lot of buzz on Apple TV+. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller, it’s been rising fast on the streaming charts and is a big hit. Let’s find out why The Gorge is the talk of the town!

MovieWeb says The Gorge is the 3rd most popular movie on Apple TV+’s weekly streaming chart. It’s been doing well since it started in February 2025. It’s done better than movies like Wolfs with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, only behind Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth and Echo Valley. Big for Apple TV+ which is still finding its footing in the streaming game. The movie has a 75% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes which means fans love it. Critics gave it a 62% which means they liked the actors but found the story a bit predictable. The chemistry between Taylor-Joy and Teller and the action makes The Gorge a must see.

So what’s The Gorge about? Directed by Scott Derrickson who did Doctor Strange and The Black Phone, the movie is about Levi a U.S. soldier. Miles Teller plays a Special Forces sniper and Anya Taylor-Joy plays Drasa a Russian operative. They are stationed in tall towers on opposite sides of a secret gorge. Their job is to make sure whatever is in the gorge stays in and doesn’t get out. The catch? They don’t know what they are protecting against.

MovieWeb says the story is sci-fi, action and romance as Levi and Drasa build a connection despite being told not to. When the secrets of the gorge are revealed including scary creatures and a hidden plot they find themselves fighting to survive. The movie has cool visuals inspired by Zdzisław Beksiński’s surreal art and the action scenes are thrilling. Why is The Gorge so popular? First it has big stars. Anya Taylor-Joy just from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga shows she can be an action star. Miles Teller brings toughness and charm from Whiplash.

Their chemistry is strong and keeps the romantic part of the movie interesting even when the story gets predictable. MovieWeb says fans are asking for a sequel but there’s no official word yet. This is partly because Taylor-Joy and Teller are busy—she has Super Mario Bros. coming up and he has several projects in the works. The movie combines sci-fi, horror, romance and action making it a great Valentine’s Day release. Also Apple TV+ has a sleek production and the music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross makes it feel like a movie even though it’s streaming only.
